Description

Acrylic on wood and ceramic sculpture – mixed media 2025

In Noyade we can assist in the drowning of a man. The ceramic head sculpted is at the center of the canvas, appearing to float above water. Around the face we can see small waves, and at night, the darkness of the depth behind him slowly appears.

The ceramic sculpture adds a tangible, almost palpable dimension to the artwork contrasting with the chaotic, textured background. The dynamic background, composed of dark hues and white accents suggests the relentless motion of water, symbolizing the ebb and flow of life’s challenges.

This sculpture has been created for the Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month in June.

It symbolizes the hard balance to keep to the surface when we struggle with our own problem, and that sometimes we need to sink down to be able to come up again to the surface. It shows that in life men can be in an ocean of struggles with difficulties to express it, and difficulties to choose the good path.

From above the face looks to be completely despairs but from the bottom it’s seems full of hope, this duality is to make even more visible that during the storm only our choice can decide for our future.
